Location of Lesvignes d'En Teste

Our house, a part of a old wine farm, is located in the south-west of France, between Toulouse and Carcassone, near Castres.

Map of France Detail of the map with the location of Les Vignes

It is very easy accessible by the calm highway Paris-Toulouse (a part of it is toll-free) and then 70 km of Route National. If you want to come by train you could take the TGV to Toulouse and then a normal train/bus to Castres. The last 8 km can be done by taxi. And if you want to go by plane: There are airports in Carcassone, Toulouse and Castres (regional airport). There are a lot of rental companys which rent you a car or you could go by train to Castres and take then a taxi or even rent a car at Castres SNCF-station.

If you want to come by car we will provide you a detailed travel route.

The house is located in a small and quiet village with not even 20 houses in it...

If you want to eat fresh bread, there is a bakery in Soual, five minutes away from our house. There is also a butcher, a little shop, and most important: a local "Cave" where you can buy wine at very low prices (prices between 1,3 and 1,7 € par litre but you need to bring a empty plastic bottle of water with you). For the larger amounts of food you could drive 8 km towards Castres, and you will find a hypermarket, a sports shop,...

If you like nature, you could go to the natural park in the Montagnes Noires, or to the bird-reserve at only 5 km (Base de Loisirs at Cambounet) away. We can provide you with GPS-routes for bike-routes or other if you want...

Biking tours in the area around Lesvignes d'En Teste are always worth it...

If you want to visit something, you will find a lot of touristic items in the area.

The castles from the Cathars are not far away: the tour starts in Revel. The mystery of the granite rocks from Sidobre is still not revealed. Toulouse-Lautrec, the man from the Parish posters, is never far away, as Toulouse itself. This town, where there are a lot of festivals in the summer, is the centre of airspace and the fly-industry. There you can see a model of the Ariane-rocket and you can see how an airbus is made. Albi and Carcassonne are pearls too, which are worth to visit.

A lot of typical little villages are waiting for you. Every week and sometimes even every day there are markets, were you can taste and buy authentic southern products. The wine farmers are inviting you to "déguster" their wines. (Gaillac, Languedoc-Roussillon, Minervois...)

It's an area which, opposite to the Provence, is an very quiet and peaceful area.

Picture of a terrace

You don't have to be afraid to go and have a drink on a terrace or have dinner on a market place under the "platane"-trees. We give you a list of culinary restaurants were you get a gastronomical menu for only 13€ (of course you can go more expensive...). The local gastronomy has a lot of assets: foie gras with muscat aux chataignes, gésiers de canards... too much to enumerate. You really have to discover it yourself... We even found an English chef wich married a French girl and the French haute-cuisine: Simon and Marie-Hélène will be delighted to receive you and to serve you their marvellous food in on the terrace of "Les saveurs de St. Avith"...

All folders were collected by us specially for you, so you could read them carefully on the roof terrace. Three detailed maps are available in the house: you don't have to buy them yourself. There are two Dutch travelling guides and also two green French Michelin guides (Midi-Pyrénées en Languedoc-Roussilon)...
